Take a Healthy Grocery Store Tour with Evangelical and Weis Markets

healthygroceryEvangelical Community Hospital is partnering with Weis Markets during March for National Nutrition Month. Several grocery store tours will be held, each focusing on a different nutrition topic. Weis Markets dietitians will be on hand to discuss how to utilize grocery store aisles to maximize nutrition.

Pre-registration is required for each grocery store tour and the fee for each tour is $10. At the end of the tour, participants will receive a $10 Weis Markets gift card. The following tours will be held in March:

- The Heart Health and Weight Management grocery store tour will be held Wednesday, March 16 from 6 to 7:30 pm at the Weis Markets in Lewisburg. The tour will meet in the Café. Mandy Rother, Weis Markets registered dietitian, will review foods that promote a healthy heart.

- The Healthy Eating grocery store tour will be held Friday, March 18 from 10 am to noon at the Weis Markets in Mifflinburg. The tour will meet near the pharmacy counter. Beth Stark, Weis Markets registered dietitian, will provide an aisle-by-aisle guide on healthy eating. A free BMI and body fat analysis screening will also be held near the pharmacy from 9 am to noon.

- The Diabetes grocery store tour will be held Wednesday, March 23 from 6 to 7:30 pm at the Weis Markets in Lewisburg. The tour will meet in the Café. Mandy Rother, Weis Markets registered dietitian will provide a supermarket roadmap for preventing or living with Type 2 Diabetes.

- The Gluten-Free grocery store tour will be held Wednesday, March 30 from 6 to 7:30 pm at the Weis Markets in Lewisburg. The tour will meet in the Café. Beth Stark, Weis Markets registered dietitian, will discuss shopping gluten-free.
