Evangelical Community Hospital and Sunbury Broadcasting Join Forces to “Rock Red for Healthy Hearts” in February

RockRedEvangelical Community Hospital and the stations of Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation are teaming up for “Rock Red for Healthy Hearts,” a promotion for American Heart Month.

Throughout the month of February, Evangelical will be holding several programs focusing on heart health, including: “Simple Choices, Profound Results;” ACTION Health Heart to Heart Luncheon; Cardiac Rehabilitation Open House; Keep Your Heart Healthy screenings; Heart Power programs; blood pressure and blood sugar clinics; and Talk with the Doc Seminars.

“Simple Choices, Profound Results” is a scientifically-proven program to feel better, live longer and lose weight. The program is based on the best-selling book The Spectrum by Dean Ornish, MD. The classes will be held Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m., February 1 through March 8 in Wood-Mode Conference Rooms AB, located on the lower level of Evangelical Community Hospital. The fee is $85 and is free to Highmark insurance participants.

ACTION Health Heart to Heart Luncheon will take place Friday, February 11 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in Country Cupboard with Donald T. Nardone, MD, cardiologist as the guest speaker. The fee is $20; to register, call ACTION Health at (570) 275-9150.

Cardiac Rehab Open House will take place Tuesday, February 15, 2-4 p.m. in the Professional Office Building, Suite 210 of Evangelical Community Hospital.

Keep Your Heart Healthy screenings will include: lipid panel, blood pressure, body composition, cardiac risk assessment and blood oxygen saturation test. A 12-hour fast is recommended prior to the appointment. The results will be reviewed by a physician and mailed to you. The screenings will be Tuesday, February 8, 8-10:30 a.m. in the Susquehanna Valley Mall Community Zone and Thursday, February 17 from 7-11 a.m. in the Community Health Education Center, located next to Staples on Route 15 in Lewisburg. Heart Power Program is for children 3-5 years of age and they will learn about their hearts and eating healthy along with exercise and living tobacco free. The programs will take place Tuesday, February 15, 10:30 a.m. in the West End Library, Thursday, February 17, 10 am in Mifflinburg Library and Wednesday, February 23, 10 a.m. in Lewisburg Library.

The blood pressure and blood sugar clinics will be held Thursday, February 3, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in Mifflinburg Bank and Trust, Fairground Road, Lewisburg; Friday, February 4, 9 a.m.-noon in Weis Markets, Mifflinburg and will be blood pressure only; Tuesday, February 8, 8-10:30 a.m. at the Susquehanna Valley Mall and Thursday, February 17, 10-11 a.m. in the West End Senior Center.

The Talk with the Doc Seminar will feature Donald T. Nardone, MD, talking about heart disease prevention. The lecture will discuss how to minimize the risk factors associated with heart disease, America’s number 1 killer. The lecture will take place Monday, February 28, 6:30 p.m. in the Susquehanna Valley Mall Community Zone.
