Tobacco Free Campus

To: Employees, medical staff, patients, visitors, volunteers, vendors and students
From: Evangelical Community Hospital

Evangelical Community Hospital became a tobacco-free facility on November 15, 2007. Smoking or tobacco use of any kind will not be permitted anywhere on hospital property. We will not attempt to force our tobacco-free lifestyle on anyone, but we are asking you to comply with our new policy when you are on our campus.

The health risks of tobacco use and the effects of second-hand smoke are well documented. As a regional healthcare leader, we have an obligation to help promote and maintain a healthy community. This is part of our ongoing efforts to lead by example. We are taking action to acknowledge, confront and fight this addiction. In doing so, we can help to lower to occurrence of tobacco-related illnesses and deaths.

When you stop using tobacco, you reduce your chance of suffering and increase your chance for living. We are dedicated to supporting tobacco-free lifestyles. If you are interested in quitting or if you want to learn more about living tobacco-free, we invite you to join our Smoking Cessation—One-on-One Counseling program, which combines several powerful treatments to help those addicted break the habit.

Thank you for your support as we make this a community effort to rid our campus of this deadly habit. Together we can save lives.
