Nurses in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center at Evangelical Community Hospital carry a song in their heart as they recently became recertified through the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Click on www.aacvpr.org for more information. This recognition encompasses the entire Cardiac Rehab team and their patients who have graduated from the program.
In February of 2006, the center will celebrate its 30th year in operation. The center has enrolled over 2,000 patients to date.
The Center’s program was designed to assist patients who have been through a heart attack, coronary bypass surgery, or who have stable angina. Patients exercise on various pieces of exercise equipment to recondition the heart muscle as well as identifying their own personal risk factors through education and lifestyle change to affect a positive outcome. Cardiac Rehabilitation promotes a life-long commitment toward wellness while providing social and emotional support for their families.
Patients who are interested in the Cardiac rehabilitation Program at Evangelical may contact the center at (570) 522-2676. Participation is based on physician referral.
