Cardiopulmonary Services

The Cardiopulmonary Department, which is located on the first floor of the Hospital behind Patient Registration, encompasses four services:

EEG
Provides inpatient and outpatient diagnostic services related to neurologic disorders for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Ambulatory EEGs are also available and allow patients to go about their daily activities while their brain wave activity is being monitored. EEGs are provided by registered EEG technologists.

EKG
Provides inpatient and outpatient diagnostic EKGs, holter monitors and event monitors for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Respiratory Therapy
Provides a full range of services to infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients on both inpatient and outpatient basis. The department provides respiratory therapy in all areas of the Hospital.

Our services are provided by registered respiratory therapists who are licensed by the state of Pennsylvania. The department is recognized the American Association for Respiratory Care.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Provides progressive exercise and education under medical supervision to individuals with chronic pulmonary disease. It combines exercise training and behavioral and educational programs designed to help patients with COPD control symptoms and improve day-to-day activities.

The main goals of Pulmonary Rehabilitation are to help patients improve their day-to-day lives and restore their ability to function independently. It is used primarily for patients with COPD. However, it can also be helpful to people with other chronic lung conditions such as interstitial diseases, cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, thoracic cage abnormalities, and neuromuscular disorders.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation can also be helpful to those who need lung transplants or other lung surgeries.

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation service is available on an outpatient basis and located on the first floor of the Professional Office Building (Suite 120). A physician referral is required. For more information on the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program, contact Susan Telmanik-Schwartz at 570-522-2731.
