Hospice
We Help Patients Gain Comfort
Evangelical Hospice is helping patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families
make the most of the time they have left together.
Hospice is a philosophy of care that helps patients become more comfortable by providing
pain and symptom control and spiritual and emotional support, while allowing them
to remain in a familiar environment. Evangelical Hospice is a comprehensive program
that assists patients and their families, friends and caregivers to come to terms
with the emotions brought on by the dying process.
Recognizing the inevitability of death is difficult for patients, their families
and caregivers. Evangelical Hospice can help to alleviate feelings of anxiety, guilt,
stress, uncertainty, loneliness and fear which often occur during the illness of
a loved one.

Care at Home
The familiar surroundings of home and the reassurance of sharing the family's daily
life contribute to the patient's peace of mind. Family members also have the consolation
that they are not alone during this difficult time. Our nurses are on call 24 hours
a day, seven days a week, to answer questions, discuss concerns, visit and provide
support. Plus, the specially trained Evangelical Hospice Volunteers provide companionship
for the patients, respite for the caregivers, and assistance with errands. These
volunteers contribute to the family's emotional well-being and help them maintain
their physical energy.
Continued Support
The Evangelical Hospice support extends even further. In fact, Hospice families
continue to receive care following the death of the patient. Continued bereavement
support is provided for at least 13 months. Contacts from team members and volunteers,
and cards and other mailings are all part of the program.
Life After Loss
This six-week program will help participants learn coping techniques to deal with grief and loss in a supportive setting.
Coping with the Holidays
This special panel discussion will focus on helping those who have lost a loved one cope during the holiday season.
Other Support
The Evangelical Hospice team also provides services to patients in nursing homes,
personal care homes and assisted living communities.
Hospice Fees
Hospice fees can be billed through Medicare/Medicaid, as well as most private insurance
and managed care plans. Regardless of ability to pay, all patients in need receive
care.
