Being sick in the hospital is
difficult, especially if you’re a child. On the Pediatric Unit at
Evangelical Community Hospital, we do our best to help make your child’s
hospitalization as stress free as possible. Our caring, well-trained nursing
staff specializes in the health and welfare of children and their families
from the newborn period through the teen years. While in our intimate,
family centered care unit parents are encouraged to learn about and actively
participate in their child’s care. A small kitchen, complimentary
breakfast tray and sleeping arrangements are available so that a parent
or guardian may remain to comfort their child throughout the hospital stay.
The pediatric unit’s cheerful, well-stocked playroom
is available to all non-contagious hospitalized children as soon as they
feel up to playing. Until that time toys, books, games and movies may be
borrowed or brought from home to provide entertainment in the child’s
room. A laptop computer is available for the older child. Your child’s
well-loved blanket or stuffed animal from home is always welcome.
Our goal, like yours, is to help your child feel better and
return home as soon as possible. Our experienced staff wants to be sure
that you understand all of your child’s special health care, medication
or dietary needs so that
you feel comfortable taking your child home. Working together with you
we will try to ensure a safe,
comfortable and healing hospital stay.
