Evangelical Gala Raises Over $114,000 in Support of Evangelical’s Growth and Services

March 12, 2019

Evangelical Community Hospital’s signature celebration, the Evangelical Gala, was held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, and raised over $114,000 during the sand and sea-themed event.

Proceeds from this year’s Gala, including ticket sales, auctions, and donations, will support Evangelical’s largest construction project in the Hospital’s history – PRIME (Patient Room Improvement, Modernization, and Enhancement). The funds will also go to support current community care programs including The Thyra M. Humphreys Center for Breast Health, Hospice of Evangelical, Pre-Hospital Services, The Family Place, Community Health and Wellness, and charity care.

Quandel Construction, a fourth generation, family-owned, commercial construction company providing construction, construction management, design-build and owner’s representative services, served as the grand sponsor for the 2019 Evangelical Gala.

The Gala, held at the Elaine Langone Center at Bucknell University, saw 322 attendees in their finest attire enjoying the evening of silent auction, dinner, and dancing to music provided by Body & Soul, out of Albany, New York.

“We are excited that the funds from this event support PRIME and the strong existing programs and services of Evangelical,” said Shannon Moyers, Gala co-chair. “To be part of Evangelical’s growth and the way it will positively impact the healthcare for our community is an honor. Every Gala Committee member feels their efforts toward the event contribute to the greater goal of making a difference for patients who choose Evangelical for their care.”

A silent auction of clothing, accessories, items for the home, memorabilia, and fun experiences and trips was open to the public and brought in $31,921 for the final fundraising total. A pre-event raffle for a Jamaican getaway was held in the months before the Gala. Lise Barrick of Milton was the holder of the winning ticket and walked away with a four-night stay for two at an all-inclusive Sandals resort.

“We are humbled and amazed by the sponsors, businesses, and individuals who generously give to this event,” said Donna Schuck, Associate Vice President/Chief Development Officer for Evangelical Community Hospital. “We continue to be thankful for the ways in which the community supports the Hospital and how much they want to be part of the future of healthcare in our area.”

In addition to Shannon Moyers, Patricia Case also served as a co-chair for the event and together they led a committee of volunteers and staff in planning the festivities. Other committee members included, Carol Apple, Kathy Asche, Jennifer Bair, Lise Barrick, Brian Beitz, Abby Gulden-Luthi, Monica Hanson, Corey Jusko, Brandy Kift, Jana Klinger, Eustacia Muir, Courtney Remmey, Alexis Rosini, and Donna Schuck.

In addition to Quandel, the event was made possible by sponsors including CallisonRTKL, Bucknell University, Geisinger, McNees Wallace & Nurick, LLC, Mifflinburg Bank & Trust, and VNA Health System.

Photos from the event are shared on Evangelical Community Hospital’s Facebook page and at www.evanhospital.com/support-evangelical/evangelical-gala.

PRIME will allow each patient room to be single, private spaces that are enhanced for better care and patient safety.
