Evangelical Gala Raises Over $125,000 in Support of Evangelical’s Growth and Services

March 12, 2018

Evangelical Community Hospital’s signature celebration, the Evangelical Gala, was held on Saturday, March 10, 2018, and raised over $125,000 during the disco-themed event.

Proceeds from this year’s Gala, including ticket sales, auctions, and donations will support Evangelical’s growth and program initiatives that care for the community, including but not limited to The Thyra M. Humphreys Center for Breast Health, Hospice of Evangelical, Pre-Hospital Services, The Family Place, Community Health and Wellness, and charity care.

Quandel Construction, a fourth generation, family-owned, commercial construction company providing construction, construction management, design-build and owner’s representative services, served as the grand sponsor for the 2018 Evangelical Gala.

The sold-out Gala, held at Larison Hall on the Bucknell University campus, saw just over 300 attendees in their finest attire enjoying the evening of silent auction, dinner, and dancing to music provided by Paris, a Philadelphia-based band.

“Evangelical has long been the provider of high-quality healthcare for our neighbors, family, and friends in the Susquehanna Valley,” said Lise Barrick, Gala co-chair. “We are excited that the funds from this event support not only the strong existing programs and services of Evangelical, but will make it possible to grow what Evangelical is able to offer to our community.”

A silent auction of clothing, accessories, items for the home, memorabilia, and fun experiences and trips was open to the public and brought in $38,700 for the final fundraising total. New this year was a pre-event raffle for a Jamaican getaway. Bill Franquet of Williamsport was the holder of the winning ticket and walked away with a four-night stay for two at an all-inclusive Sandals resort.

“Every year we are humbled and amazed by the sponsors, businesses, and individuals who generously give to this event,” said Donna Schuck, Associate Vice President/Chief Development Officer for Evangelical Community Hospital. “The committee dedicates valuable time over an entire year to make sure the event goes flawlessly and their efforts are rewarded when they see the guests enjoy a night of entertainment and fun knowing they are supporting a tremendous cause that impacts our community.”

In addition to Lise Barrick, Shannon Moyers also served as a co-chair for the event and together they led a committee of volunteers and staff in planning the festivities. Other committee members included, Carol Apple, Kathy Asche, Jennifer Bair, Jodi Batman, Patricia Case, Corey Jusko, Brandy Kift, Jana Klinger, Eustacia Muir, Courtney Remmey, Donna Schuck, and Julie Stefan.

In addition to Quandel, The event was made possible by sponsors including The Northumberland National Bank; Callison RTKL; VNA Health System; McNees Wallace & Nurick, LLC; Mifflinburg Bank & Trust; Geisinger; Bucknell University; and Workspace Interiors by Office Depot.
