Celebrating Those Who Choose Nursing and the Business of Caring for People
May 04, 2017
Nurses bring much to the healthcare landscape each day—they carry with them their expertise to assess medical need and treat according to physician orders, their compassion and ability to be present for the patient during high-anxiety situations, and their passion for helping people at their greatest time of need.
In my first few weeks as the head of nursing at Evangelical, it is evident that the nursing team at this Hospital, which includes RNs, LPNs, nursing assistants, medical assistants, unit assistants, and nurses serving in administrative roles, have one priority, making sure patients and their families are receiving exceptional care on all levels.
As I look at National Nurses Week that each year falls around nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale’s birthday, I am thankful that we can stop and take a moment to appreciate the fine individuals who have chosen nursing as a profession. More than that, I am honored to be part of the Evangelical nursing team—our professionals work tirelessly to fulfill the mission of care at the Hospital—they truly are dedicated to the business of caring for people.
