Evangelical Names New Chief Nursing Officer

March 15, 2017

Evangelical Community Hospital has named Tamara F. Persing, RN, BSN, MS, as the organization’s Chief Nursing Officer effective April 10, 2017. Mrs. Persing previously served at Evangelical in various roles from 1986 until 2009.

“Along with her extensive tenure in nursing, Tamara brings with her new ideas and a fresh perspective,” said Kendra Aucker, President and Chief Executive Officer. “I’m confident she will positively impact our policies and procedures to improve our efficiency, move the needle on patient experience, and smooth patient flow.”

“I’m excited to be re-joining such a successful and well-respected organization,” said Mrs. Persing of her new role at the Lewisburg hospital. “I look forward to nurturing Evangelical’s long-standing tradition of personalized care while consistently seeking out new, more efficient means of delivering on that promise.”

Mrs. Persing comes to the Hospital with more than 35 years of healthcare industry experience. She began her career in 1982 as a Registered Nurse at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, and spent more than two decades at Evangelical as a Registered Nurse, Pre-Admission Care Coordinator, and Infection Control Practitioner. She most recently served as Director of Infection Prevention and Control at Geisinger Health System, Danville.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in health services administration. She is certified in infection control and as an Improvement Advisor.

Mrs. Persing is moving into the role of chief nursing officer after Paul Tarves, Vice President of Nursing Services, announced his retirement from healthcare effective December 31, 2016. Mr. Tarves served as the head of Evangelical’s nursing corps for more than 20 years.
