Rachel Smith Named Vice President of Human Resources at Evangelical

Rachel Smith, MPA, SHRM-SCP, has been named Vice President of Human Resources at Evangelical Community Hospital. Evangelical employs over 1,800 individuals in both clinical and non-clinical roles and has more than 170 employed and non-employed physicians on staff.

In the role of Vice President, Smith oversees all areas of Human Resources including employment, recruitment, and hiring; employee benefits; employee relations; development and training; employee health; and volunteer services. She also manages policy and procedure development and implementation.

Smith has been employed at Evangelical since 2014 when she was hired as the Director of Organizational Development. She was promoted to Director of Human Resources and Organizational Development in 2015 and again promoted in 2017 as Associate Vice President of Human Resources. Prior to Evangelical, Smith was employed for 13 years at the Central Pennsylvania Workforce Development Corporation, serving as the Executive Director two years prior to joining Evangelical.

Active in the community, Smith is a member of the Greater Susquehanna Valley United Way’s Early Learning Investment Committee and recently completed a nine-year term on the Board of Directors for SUM Child Development.

Smith holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Administration from Shippensburg University and a Master of Public Administration degree from Virginia Tech. She is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Susquehanna Valley. In 2016, Smith became a Senior Certified Professional through the Society for Human Resource Management. She is an active member of the Susquehanna Human Resource Management Association.
