Evangelical’s Disco-Themed 2018 Gala Event Set to Raise Funds for Community Programming

January 23, 2018

The 2018 Evangelical Gala, centering around the colorful lights, songs, and passion for fun of the Disco Era, will be held on Saturday, March 10 at Larison Hall on the campus of Bucknell University. The Gala begins with a 6 pm cocktail hour and a silent auction, followed by dinner and dancing to music provided by Paris, a Philadelphia-based band. The band specializes in high-energy performances ranging from oldies to current hits to ballads and everything in between.

Proceeds from this year’s Gala, including ticket sales, auctions, sponsorships, and donations will support Evangelical’s growth and program initiatives that care for the community, including but not limited to The Thyra M. Humphreys Center for Breast Health, Hospice of Evangelical, Pre-Hospital Services, The Family Place, Community Health and Wellness, and charity care.

Tickets are $150 per person. The menu for the evening includes a choice of pan seared, block cut strip loin; salmon almondine; or linguini with vegetables and parmesan cream sauce. A delectable table of desserts top off the meal.

The silent auction will be powered by OneCause, formerly known as the mobile bidding system BidPal, again this year. Guests are encouraged to bring their smartphones to bid on fantastic items including trips, memorabilia, and fun dining experiences. Kiosks will also be available to place bids. One of this year’s featured auction items is a limited edition “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” autographed movie poster. The poster is autographed by all 12 cast members with only 100 available worldwide.

New this year is a Jamaican getaway raffle. Tickets for this four-night stay for two at an all-inclusive Sandals resort are on sale now for $50 each and can be purchased from a Gala committee member or by calling 570-522-4850. Only 200 tickets are being sold for a chance to win this prize.

Auction items will be added as they become available prior to the event and everyone, attendees and non-attendees alike, are invited to browse and bid using the online system. The winners of the items will be determined by the highest bidder by the end of the event.

Tickets to the black-tie optional event will go on sale on January 29, 2018, at 10 am. Ticket purchases can be made online or by calling 570-522-4850.
