Evangelical’s Sand and Sea-Themed 2019 Gala Event Set to Raise Funds for Community Programming

January 09, 2019

The 2019 Evangelical Gala will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at the Elaine Langone Center on the campus of Bucknell University. The Gala begins with a 6 pm cocktail hour and a silent auction, followed by dinner and dancing to music provided by Body & Soul, out of Albany, New York. The eight-piece high energy party band specializes in Top 40, Rock, R&B, and Motown party tunes.

Proceeds from this year’s Gala, including ticket sales, auction, sponsorships, and donations will support Evangelical Community Hospital’s community care program initiatives. Those valuable efforts include the Thyra M. Humphreys Center for Breast Health, Hospice of Evangelical, Pre-Hospital Services, The Family Place, Community Health and Wellness, and direct charity care. A portion of the funds will also serve to fund the largest building project in the Hospital’s history – PRIME (Patient Room Improvement, Modernization, and Enhancement).

Tickets are $150 per person. The menu for the evening includes a choice of roasted strip loin and seared scallops; pan-seared monkfish; or a vegetarian offering of grilled cauliflower steaks. A delectable table of desserts top off the meal.

The silent auction will be powered by OneCause, creator of the mobile bidding system BidPal, again this year. Guests are encouraged to bring their smartphones to bid on fantastic items including trips, memorabilia, and fun dining experiences. Two of this year’s featured items include a wine and cooking class at Elizabeth’s in downtown Lewisburg and a 6-night stay in an Olde Marco Island beach home.
Auction items will be added as they become available prior to the event and everyone, attendees and non-attendees alike, are invited to browse and bid using the online system. The winners of the items will be determined by the highest bidder by the end of the event.

Pre-Gala, community members are invited to take part in a Jamaican getaway raffle. Tickets for this four-night stay for two at an all-inclusive Sandals resort are on sale now for $50 each and can be purchased from a Gala committee member or by calling 570-522-4850. Only 200 tickets are being sold for a chance to win this prize, which will be announced at the event and the winner need not be present to win.

Tickets to the black-tie optional event will go on sale on January 28, 2019, at 10 am. Ticket purchases will be completed on a first-come, first-served basis and can be made online or by calling 570-522-4850.
