Pain Medicine of Evangelical Opens at West Branch Medical Center

March 28, 2017

Pain Medicine of Evangelical is officially open to and accepting patients at its new location inside of the Evangelical Community Hospital’s West Branch Medical Center, Lewisburg. The Center, which opened in November of 2016, houses Evangelical’s Wound & Hyperbaric Medicine, Diabetes Center, Bariatric Center, as well as a family medicine practice and Urgent Care of Evangelical.

Roughly 100 million Americans live with chronic pain. Whether an annoying discomfort or an agonizing disability, the experts at Pain Medicine of Evangelical help patients find relief through an integrated approach.

Under the direction of Shiyi Abla-Yao, MD, a board certified anesthesiologist and pain medicine specialist, patients can expect treatment plans with prescription alternatives to narcotics and opiates and adequate-strength, over-the-counter options. These include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), corticosteroids, and antidepressants. They may be used in conjunction with other treatments, such as steroid injections, which are especially helpful for neck or back pain; trigger-point injections, for nerve-related muscle pain; or acupuncture.

In addition to the opening of Pain Medicine of Evangelical at West Branch Medical Center, where procedures will be performed, beginning in late April, Dr. Yao and staff are expecting to schedule routine patient visits at her former practice in Williamsport, which was recently acquired by Evangelical.
