Expanded Cardiovascular Services

Saving Lives Together

Evangelical Community Hospital provides expanded cardiology services to the region so patients can be diagnosed, and in many cases treated, in the same place.

Every Beat Counts

According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death for both men and women in the United States.

Evangelical is responding to this need for our central Susquehanna Valley community by building a high-quality cardiovascular interventional program.

The national standard for “door-to-balloon” time is 90 minutes. Door-to-balloon time is a measure of how quickly a team is able to restore blood flow in a patient having a heart attack; it is tracked from when the patient arrives in the hospital “door” (or emergency department) to the point in time when angioplasty is used to open the blocked heart artery causing the heart attack. The sooner the blockage is opened, the less damage to the heart muscle.

Rather than transporting patients to another hospital for emergency angioplasty, our patients can be taken to Evangelical's cath lab, minimizing time to treatment.
