Lymphedema
Treatment of edema (swelling) involving the upper and/or lower extremities is provided on an outpatient basis. Our program focuses on reducing limb size, returning skin/tissue to normal condition and ultimately self-management of symptoms.
Possible Causes:
- Damage/removal of lymph nodes related to cancer treatment
- Dysfunction of the venous system and/or congenital disorders
Edema related to both venous and lymphatic dysfunction can be effectively treated through our program.
Treatment Possibilities:
- Use of compression wraps/garments
- Manual therapy
- Compression pump
- Exercise
- Education regarding skin care and activity modification
