Speech Therapy
Speech therapy develops programs for patients who have suffered communication and/or swallowing impairments related to neurological injuries or disease, or structural changes related to cancer of the mouth or throat.
Evaluation and treatment areas include:
- Speech/articulation impairment (including voice)
- Language/cognitive impairment
- Swallowing disorders, including evaluation through use of a "Modified Barium Swallow" (MBS) which uses various foods and liquid consistencies under X-ray to determine the area of difficulty and establish a treatment program
- Videostroboscopy
A videostroboscopy is a study of the larynx to look at the function and motion of the voice box and vocal cords.
