Evangelical Employees and Volunteers Presented Award for Outstanding Patient Experience

On Tuesday, August 27, 2013, Evangelical Community Hospital board members, physicians, volunteers, and employees were on hand to receive the Outstanding Patient Experience Award from Healthgrades officials.
The event was held in front of a standing room only crowd with Michael O’Keefe, President and CEO and Krista McNally, Unit Assistant at the Family Place and Evangelical employee for over two decades, accepting the award on behalf of every employee and volunteer at the Hospital. Following the brief ceremony, board members, physicians, staff and volunteers were treated to cake and free gifs to honor their contributions to going above and beyond with patients and their families.
This marks the fifth consecutive year Evangelical has received the award, making it one of only two hospitals in Pennsylvania to consistently deliver positive patient experience and places Evangelical among the top 15% of hospitals in the nation who have mastered an approach to meeting patient needs that stands out among the rest.
The Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award reflects a patient’s perceptions of all the interactions that take place while receiving care in the hospital. Patient experience includes commmunication delievered by doctors and nurses, fast response to medical concerns and needs, attention to pain levels, hospital cleanliness and noise levels and medication and post-discharge care instructions. The measure for the award is patient feedback supplied through after-care surveys.
