Evangelical Gala Raises More Than $90,000 For Nursing Scholarships
March 12, 2012 — Evangelical Community Hospital’s signature event, the Evangelical Gala, raised more than $90,000 to benefit nursing scholarships provided by the Hospital.
Nearly 300 people attended the Gala, which was held at Larison Hall, Bucknell University on Saturday, March 10. Stantec, formerly Burt, Hill, was the 2012 Grand Sponsor for the event, which had the theme “Supporting Tomorrow’s Nurses.” Evangelical Community Hospital will award the funds through scholarships to local students pursuing a career in nursing.
“The evening was such an incredible success,” said Tami Radecke, Vice President-Community Relations for Evangelical Community Hospital. “This year’s total is the best in the history of hosting the Gala. We owe a great deal to the volunteers, sponsors and attendees who support this event every year.”
Jayme Hile, RN, who was a recipient of the Mae Keefer Nursing Scholarship Award in 1993, was the evening’s featured guest, speaking on behalf of all the past, present and future nursing scholars. Hile highlighted her unique experience pursuing a nursing career with the support of the Hospital behind her.
Maria Petorak and Jennifer Reish served as co-chairs for the event and led a committee of volunteers and staff members in planning the festivities. In addition to Stantec, other major sponsors for the evening included Lewisburg Home Health, Mifflinburg Bank and Trust, Quandel and Geisinger Medical Center. Cocktail Hour sponsors were Cornerstone Advisors, The Daily Item, Degenstein Foundation, DH Evans Associates, Moran Industries, OM Workspace, Playworld Systems, Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation, SUN Orthopaedic Group, and Weis Markets.
