Evangelical Community Hospital Names New Entrance Pavilion

new entranceTwo longtime benefactors to Evangelical Community Hospital will be honored in an important way. Robert Donehower and the late Ethel Eisenhauer, RN, have contributed much to the Hospital and healthcare in the Susquehanna Valley over the years. Now, Evangelical is pleased to announce that the entrance to the new Surgical and Cardiovascular Expansion will be named the Donehower-Eisenhauer Pavilion.

“This naming was made possible by a generous bequest from Ethel Eisenhauer and a planned gift from Bob Donehower. Ms. Eisenhauer was the supervisor of the Hospital’s operating rooms from 1953 to 1986, and Mr. Donehower has been a lifelong friend and grateful patient of the Hospital for many years,” Vice President—Community Relations/Chief Development Officer Tami Radecke noted, adding that Donehower and Eisenhauer have been advocates of the Hospital.

“Bob made generous gifts to name the Donehower Center for cancer care in honor of his parents and wife, Lucy, in 2005 and the Nursing Supervisor's Office in honor of Ethel in 2003,” Director of Development Joanne Troutman said. “Ethel was a consistent and faithful friend of the Hospital, having made annual gifts for 58 consecutive years until the time of her death in 2009.”

“All of us at Evangelical Community Hospital will be eternally grateful for the generosity of these two very dear friends,” Radecke added.

The Surgical and Cardiovascular Expansion is the first phase of a multi-year, $90 million Master Facilities Plan. The current project is a $32 million addition which will provide eight new operating rooms and a new cardiovascular suite, totaling 41,000 square feet. The new entrance and expanded area of the Hospital is expected to open mid-2012.
