Pediatric Hospitalist Joins Evangelical Community Hospital and Geisinger’s Janet Weis Children’s Hospital
Faiz Ur Rahman, M.D., has joined Evangelical Community Hospital and Geisinger’s Janet Weis Children’s Hospital as a pediatric hospitalist. He will assist local pediatricians and primary care physicians in the treatment of pediatric inpatients and newborns in the nursery.
Prior to joining the two hospitals, Dr. Rahman most recently served as a general pediatrician at East Georgia Health Care, Statesboro, since 2009.
Dr. Rahman earned his medical degree in 2002 from Dow Medical College, Pakistan. He then pursued a pediatric residency at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pa., which he completed in 2009.
Board-certified in pediatrics, Dr. Rahman has been heavily involved in volunteer work and disaster relief programs. He is currently a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America.
Hospitalist is the term used for doctors who are specialized in the care of patients in the hospital. They often work as the expert on-hand and serve as the care coordinator between the hospital and the patient’s family physician. Hospitalists are board-certified internal medicine physicians who have undergone the same training as other internal medicine doctors including medical school, residency training, and board certification examination.
