Graduate Level Rotations (Residents and Fellows)          
  • Visiting Resident and Fellow elective rotations are available in select subspecialties from those programs who are affiliated with Evangelical Hospital.
  • Please contact your program director and designated institutional official (DIO) to determine eligibility.

Medical Student Clinical Rotations  

Qualifications
Candidates for the Visiting Medical Student Clerkship Program must:

  1. Be enrolled in a medical school within the United States
  2. Have passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1, Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX) Level 1, or National Board Dental Examination (NBDE)
  3. Be in the final year of medical school at the time of the clerkship
  4. Be in good academic standing at their medical school
  5. Have received the required immunizations

Priority

  • Clinical Rotations for medical students are mostly limited to affiliated schools.
  • Other visiting medical student applications will be considered on a case by case basis. Rotations are limited to the availability of providers, specialists, and departments. We cannot guarantee any rotations outside of our affiliated schools.

Shadowing             

We offer 1-week shadowing experiences for College Students throughout the year in multiple specialties.

  • This program is designed for:
    • Students who require shadowing hours to apply for the Physician Assistant Program
    • Students interested in an advanced degrees such as medical school and would like to spend time with a Physician or APP
    • College Students who may be interested in PT/OT/Speech therapy or those who require clinical shadowing hours to apply to a program.

    • College level students interested in Radiology Technology Programs (CT, Nuclear Medicine, MRI, Sonography)
  • We do not accept students <18 years of age. High school level students should consider applying for our high school internship program offered each summer.

Summer High School Internship Program   

Evangelical Community Hospital is seeking high school sophomores or juniors that are considering a career in healthcare to apply for our summer internship program! 

This internship will consist of one required week in a classroom in June, followed by job shadowing in select clinical areas of the students’ choice throughout July.

The application period will be March 1 through May 1 each year. Limited seats are available, and students will be interviewed for program acceptance.

 The ECH Medical Education Steering Committee (MESC) will develop and oversee plans and strategies for medical education across the system.

Including but not limited to:

  • Defining the resource need and allocation including financial planning for medical education
  • Developing long lasting collaborations with local universities and healthcare systems
  • Serving the healthcare needs of the community through medical education by increasing quality of care.
  • Focusing on the relevance of education to the community and the importance of rural healthcare and education.
  • Creating and/or disseminate professional education and training addressing the learning needs of physicians, residents, students, advanced practice providers and other health care professionals.
  • Developing educational policy to improve the quality, safety, and value of health care.
  • Supporting the professional fulfillment of medical learners
  • Reviewing and tracking defined metrics and outcomes including recruitment, retention, and engagement as it pertains to medical education.
