Pre-Admission Care
At Evangelical, our Pre-Admission Care begins when you and your surgeon decide you need to have surgery. Whether your procedure involves a One-Day Surgery visit or an overnight stay, our friendly, caring Pre-Admission staff will handle your pre-surgical care.
Before you have surgery, you will need to have some pre-surgical testing. Your doctor’s office will schedule this appointment to take place approximately two weeks before your procedure.
Your testing may include:
- Blood and urine tests
- An EKG and chest X-ray
- Other tests needed by your doctor or anesthesiologist
Your doctor’s office will provide any instructions you may need for these tests.
It’s our goal to provide you with the best possible care. To ensure that we have all the important details we need, please bring the following to the hospital with you:
- Photo identification
- Your medical insurance information
- All of your completed forms
- A complete list of your current medications and information about the dosage and how often you take the medication
When you arrive at the hospital, please check-in at Central Registration on the first floor near the Degenstein Pavilion/Main Entrance 15 minutes before your appointment time. Afterward, you’ll wait in a seating area for outpatient and pre-surgical patients.
A nurse will come to get you and take you to the Pre-Admission Care office. The nurse will ask you about your health history and medications. This is a good time to ask any questions you may have about your surgery and recovery. If you have a caregiver or wish to bring a family member with you, this person will have the opportunity to ask questions as well.
Some patients also will see a member of our anesthesia staff. Some also will see a social worker. Then you will have your pre-admission testing. Please allow up to 2 hours for the entire Pre-Admission Care process.
