Evaluation of Arteries in the Extremities

  • Direct ultrasound studies
  • Indirect doppler pressure and waveform testing (with the patient at rest and after treadmill exercise)

Evaluation of Veins in the Extremities

  • Doppler ultrasound exams (which uses sound waves to show blood flow)
  • Plethysmography (to measure changes in blood volume within an organ or limb)
  • D-dimer blood test (to check for blood-clotting problems)

Evaluation of Blood Vessels of the Brain
